Funding for Professional Education...
One of the ways in which we support Airedale General Hospital in their care for bereaved parents, is to offer funding for Airedale Hospital staff to attend specialist bereavement courses.
"Supporting a family that has lost a baby is a specialist and particularly challenging area of midwifery."
Midwives magazine: Issue 2 :: 2014
We strongly believe that all midwives should be able to access bereavement training whenever they feel they need it. As the above quote says, bereavement care following the loss of a baby or young child is an incredibly specialist area. Bereaved families deserve the best possible care, and midwives can not be expected to provide this level of care without appropriate training. Many midwives pay for their own bereavement training as part of their professional development. We provide financial support for midwives and other relevant staff at Airedale General Hospital who wish to receive bereavement training. We are able to fund training for individuals or for larger groups.
